Welcome to the Danville Little House
For 75 years, Danville’s Little House has welcomed generations of Girl Scouts—a place where young women learned leadership, friendship, and service. Now, the Danville Little House Foundation is launching a new chapter: a $250,000 capital campaign to renovate and preserve the building for future generations.
In June 1949, eight community leaders formed the original Board of Directors of Danville Girl Scouts, Inc. and purchased the former St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Mulberry Street for $7,500. Their vision created the home we now know as the Danville Little House.
We’re seeking the families of these founders:
- Robert Hollowell, Jr.
- C. Raleigh Baker
- Fred E. Shelton
- Forest W. Blanton
- Robert C. Barnett
- Rosemary Sale
- Jeanette Blanton
- Edythe Stringer
“We invite the entire community to be part of this effort,” said a Foundation representative. “If you have memories, photos, or connections to the Little House—or to these founding families—we’d love to hear from you.”
Planned renovations will include two separate meeting rooms, modern amenities, and full wheelchair accessibility—updates that honor the past while preparing for the future.
Here’s how you can help:
- Share your stories or photos from your time at the Little House
- Reach out if you’re related to one of our founding families
- Donate to support the renovation at Danville Little House
Let’s ensure the next 75 years of Girl Scout memories begin with us.
